Nighttime portrait photography

One of my many professional goals this year was to conquer my fear of using off camera flash (OCF); I have been avoiding this element of photography since I started my photography business six years ago. However, after attending workshops, watching tutorials, and collaborating with other photographers, I finally figured it out! To implement what I thought I knew, I worked with a few high school seniors during one session and had a blast putting it all together. I learned how to get the OCF to communicate to my camera via transmitter, where to put the light/flash (distance and height make a huge difference), what settings to use (set shutter speed based on how I wanted the background to look, use the lowest possible aperture, and use a very high ISO). Once it all "clicked" in my mind, I did a few victory dances to celebrate.
Equipment used for this session:
1) Canon EOS 5D Mark III
2) Canon 70-200mm prime lens
3) Godox XPro Canon transmitter
4) Godox AD200Pro
5) Soft box and tripod
